Nature reserve

Għadira also known as Għadira Nature Reserve is a protected area located in the locality of Mellieħa, Malta. It comprises a brackish lake and a salt marsh habitat. Due to Malta's arid climate, permanent inland water areas are rare, making the Għadira wetlands an extremely important habitat for birds and other wildlife. Many of the birds observed here are migratory, stopping to rest before continuing their migration.
